Wonderful Terrific Monds III - Dude, that can't be your real name.

Wonderful Terrific Monds III, what a wonderfully terrific name. And yes, that is his given name. Of course this is just one of many, let's just face it... awesomely weird names that have graced baseball diamonds throughout the sport's history. And while I'd love to list my favorites here, I'll save that for another in depth post on the subject. (Yes, there are enough freakish names for an entire blog post (possibly even a series)).

Back to Wonderful Monds, if you're interested in what he produced as a ball player, here is his Baseball Reference page. Sadly, our friend here never made it past AA ball over a seven season minor league career in the '90s. His father (known as Wonder Monds) was also a professional athlete, albeit a more successful one, for the San Francisco 49ers. His brother Mario also played in the NFL.

Another chapter to the Wonderful Monds legacy: A young man by the name of Wonderful Terrific Monds II recently began his college football career in 2012. One would assume that II and III are related because c'mon, the name is Wonderful Terrific Monds. What I can't figure out exactly is how II started his college career roughly TWENTY YEARS after III began his career in the minors. I'm going to make another assumption and say these people know how to count (they're jocks not neanderthals), and realize that II generally proceeds III. What I'm trying to get around to is...I really don't know what the hell is going on here. My 10 minute Google skim wasn't enough to get to bottom of it, but I promise I won't rest until I solve this mystery. Until then, here is my answer:

"Aliens"
(Because not even baseball weird can explain away that)
